Top teams

1. Sandburg: Eagles, who were third in Class 3A last season, add two talented transfers in defending 3A 112 champ Sebastian Pique (Hinsdale South) and Ricky Robertson (Mount Carmel).

2. Montini: Four-time defending state champ (last three in 2A) keeps rolling behind former individual champ KeVon Powell.

3. Oak Park-River Forest: Sam Brooks, a two-time 3A finalist and the 2010 state champ, leads deep, experienced lineup.

4. Lockport: New coach Josh Oster has two returning 3A finalists (Brandon Johnson, first at 189; ShaunQae McMurtry, second at 152) among 10 starters back.

5. Minooka: Reigning 3A 160 winner Kalvin Hill heads veteran lineup for new coach Paige Schoolman and 2011 runner-up Indians.

6. Barrington: Northwest suburbs’ top team aiming for another trip to state behind returning placer Adrian Gonzalez.

7. Lincoln-Way Central: Knights look to be one of most improved teams in area with returning placer Tyler Price leading way.

8. Glenbard North: Defending 3A champs still dangerous with stars such as Brian Murphy (second at 140) and transfer Jered Cortez (2A champ at 112 for Marmion).

9. Plainfield Central: Yet another solid team from southwest suburbs, balanced Wildcats have sophomore placer Nick Nasenbenny back. among others.

10. Hinsdale Central: Sophomore heavyweight Brian Allen (third at 215 in 3A last season) leads experienced Red Devils.
