Waubonsie Valley freshman Bing Singhsumalee shot a 3-over-par 75 on Friday to take a two-stroke lead into the final round of the Class AA girls golf state championship at Hickory Point in Decatur.
After starting slowly, Singhsumalee birdied the 13th and 16th holes on her way to a 36 on the back nine.
‘‘It took her awhile to get used to the greens and wind conditions,’’ Waubonsie Valley coach John Farnan said. ‘‘But she adjusted and did well on the back nine.’’
Barrington sophomore Heather Ciskowski, Hampshire senior Connie Ellett and Prospect senior Allison Walsh shot 5-over 77 to trail Singhsumalee by two strokes.
Prospect leads the team competition at 325, with
Allison Walsh joined by sophomores Noreen Caporusso (81), Kiley Walsh (83) and Emma Menich (84). New Trier (329) is four shots back, and Loyola (331) is six off the pace.
In Class A, Ridgewood sophomore Sabrina Bonanno and Bishop McNamara junior Gina Vallone (7-over 79 each) were tied for fifth, seven strokes behind leader Katherine Hepler of Normal.
