Lake Forest, Vernon Hills and Stevenson won regional team titles, and seven other area schools in all survived the first round of the state-tournaments series in boys golf advancing to next week’s sectional.
In the big-school division, Lake Forest (308), Carmel (316) and Mundelein (318) finished 1-2-3 at the regional at Lake Bluff Golf Course, which is Lake Forest’s home turf.

Jackson Bedford of Lake Forest was medalist with a 2-over 74.
In the big-school regional at Old Orchard CC, Stevenson (320), host St. Viator (323) and Highland Park (325) qualified.
In the smaller-school division, host Vernon Hills shot 316 at White Deer Run to win by 10 shots over Richmond. Grayslake Central’s 340 was good for third and the Rams also advanced.
Antioch’s Grant Smith shot 76 which tied for low round of the day, but he lost the medalist title in a playoff to Jordan Hahn of Richmond.
Next Monday’s sectional tourneys are at Barrington (big schools) and Belvidere (smaller schools).
