Lincoln-Way Central outlasted Andrew 25-14, 25-27, 27-16 in a SouthWest Suburban girls volleyball crossover Tuesday night in Tinley Park.
“Our first and third games were very strong and solid,” said Central coach Kathy Sulkowski, whose team improved to 3-1. “However, Game 2 Andrew really picked up their play and a lot of momentum shifts which kept us on our toes and they didn’t give up.”
For the Knights, Danielle Dowd had seven kills, a block, four aces and 13 digs.
“We let them come back a little bit in the second game and got ahead of us,” Dowd said. “But I feel good. It’s another win underneath our wings so I’m excited.”
Amy Bernhard had 11 kills, two blocks, nine digs and an ace, and Kaitlyn Siadek had 13 assists, seven digs and three kills for the Knights.
Andrew (6-2) was led by Maureen Carls, who had 11 kills, three blocks, four digs and three aces. Liz Jendra added five kills and eight digs.
“I wish we could have played just one more,” Andrew coach Courtney Stoub said. “We said after Game 1 we had to come out and be competitive and go at it. Our intensity went down (after Game 2) just a tad. Booth teams played well, so it was a fun match.”
