Girls Volleyball: Q-and-A with Sandburg’s Kristy Theisen
Updated: November 5, 2012 8:41PM
What got you into volleyball?
I just did OYA (Orland Youth Association) and I loved it. It was pretty random. My family wasn’t really a volleyball family before, but we are now that my sister (Michelle) and I both play.
What’s the best part of being an Eagle?
Everyone respects each other at Sandburg. And it’s a really fun atmosphere for sports.
What opposing player would you love to have as a teammate?
Stephanie Korbakes, of Shepard. We played club together and we’re good friends.
Rumor has it you dance during timeouts.
(Laughing) When we’re at home, yeah. The guy who announces is a D.J. (disc jockey). So there’s always some sort of good music playing.
If you could trade places for a day with one of your teammates, who would it be?
Either Dakota (Hampton) or Kendall (Riechman). Kendall, because she’s a genius, literally, and it would be cool to see how her mind works. And Dakota goes on amazing trips. She has a fun life.
Your dream celebrity prom date?
(Country singer) Luke Bryan. He’s nice and tall.
What’s the best and worst part of being 6 feet tall?
The worst is that no guys are ever as tall as me, so it’s awkward at times. The best part is that people see you more, I guess.
What is your guilty pleasure food?
Anything chocolate and ice cream, like a sundae, maybe.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
A special-ed teacher for high school and maybe coaching volleyball.
