Huskies have strong finishing kick

When the Sun-Times began its weekly girls soccer rankings for 2011, Naperville North was among the “others” receiving votes.

After three weeks at that level, the Huskies earned a No. 10 rating in week four only to drop back the next week and then fall out of the poll the week after. Two weeks ago, North was back and thanks to its 1-0 upset of then unbeaten and season-long top-rated Neuqua Valley, the Huskies rose to the No. 7 slot for this week.

Tuesday’s 2-1 supersectional triumph over York not only landed coach Brent Terada’s crew in the Class 3A Final Four, but should assure North of finishing the year in the Top 10. Neuqua Valley retained its respect as evidenced by a No. 2 ranking while two other area programs can also be found on the latest list with Waubonsie Valley 10th and Naperville Central among the “others.”
