Girls soccer: IHSA releases Class 1A pairings

Thanks to its lighted, soccer-only playing facility, Hinckley-Big Rock is no stranger to serving as a site for IHSA postseason play.

The Royals have been tapped once again to serve as a Class 1A regional host, but in a season in which the state’s lowest level was expanded, H-BR will also be the location for a May 22 supersectional as well.

Regardless of the tourney site, Hinckley-Big Rock has often been a regional title contender including last year when the Royals lost to Princeton. But last year was one of those rare campaigns when the Royals were under .500 (finishing 6-10-3).

Starting this week with a 10-2-2 ledger, Hinckley-Big Rock is looking to build momentum for the postseason which will start on May 8 with the top-seeded Royals hosting No. 4 Mt. Assisi at 4:30 p.m., followed by No. 2 Westmont versus No. 3 Lisle.

The victor of that H-BR Regional will be part of the Lisle Sectional that includes the Mendota Regional, where The Beacon-News’ other three 1A programs can be found.

On May 9, Plano draws the top seed and regional host Trojans with No. 2 Aurora Central Catholic facing No. 3 Indian Creek in the other semifinal.
