The Blue Demons cut the deficit to 31-27 in the closing minutes of the first half but the Spartans responded with an 11-1 run that stretchewd into the second half.
“I told them in the third quarter that this was their time to pull away,” Brosnan said. “We’ve already played them once and we only won by three so we know them and I just said if we can make our shots and attack the basket, we can pull away.”
Junior forward Erica Sogo scored 10 points and recorded a team-best eight rebounds in support of Dress and Blitt.
Gonzalez finished scored eight points and grabbed three rebounds for the Blue Demons. Sophomore forward Shaylee Sloan contributed 10 points and eight boards.
