Joliet Catholic’s Louis Dow was able to give credit when it was due.

Looking to continue a Hillmen comeback during Monday’s Lockport Regional quarterfinal against the host Porters, Dow came out of a Lockport timeout and promptly served into the net for game point.

“It was a good call from Lockport to ice me with the timeout,” Dow said with a laugh. “You just have to shake it off and move onto the next game.”

Bouncing back from four hitting errors and three service errors, Dow did just that. The junior opposite had four kills and a block in a decisive Game 3 win that helped Joliet Catholic to a 25-18, 23-25, 25-17 win.

“I really wasn’t feeling it the first two games,” Dow said. “I knew I had to pick it up in the third one for the team and pull through.”

Nolan Hucek (35 assists), Mike O’Neill (16 digs, 9 kills) and Louis Dow (7 kills, 16 digs) led Joliet Catholic. Frank Limandri (11 kills), Ben Wheaton (4 kills, 4 blocks) and Jason Hicks (4 blocks) led Lockport (8-16).

Shrugging off his struggles through the first two games, Dow’s strong performance in Game 3 helped put Joliet Catholic up 12-6. Lockport did not go quietly with Caleb Parkinson and Hicks teaming up for a block that cut the deficit to 13-11.

Joliet Catholic closed on a 10-3 run, winning on an O’Neill kill.

“We tried to play our game and not let them get to us,” Dow said.

Lockport had beaten Joliet Catholic twice during the regular season.
