Curie had little trouble with Hope, cruising to a 78-42 Red-Central victory Wednesday night at home.

The Eagles only trailed by three 18-15 with early in the second quarter when the No. 4 Condors (6-0, 2-0) erupted with a 16-1 run.

During the spurt 6-9 center Cliff Alexander scored points in an array of ways which included finishing an alley-oop on a pass from Devin Foster from the top of the key. Those points pushed the lead to 34-16 with 1:48 remaining in the second quarter

The Condors built a 59-30 lead after three when Coach Mike Oliver turned it over to the reserves.

Alexander led all scores with 22 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks while Foster had 12 points, eight rebounds and six assists. Jabreel Jackson chipped in with 10.

“They weren’t focus the way they should have been at the beginning,” Curie coach Mike Oliver said. “We picked it up in the second quarter and did what we were suppose to do.”

Jonathon Bowman led Hope with 18 points.

“We got their attention for a minute in the first quarter,” said first-year Hope coach Brandon Parker. “We re a senior team with talent and should be playing better than this.”
