Thursday’s boys basketball roundup

Simeon 62, Vocational 43: The No.1 Wolverines (17-1, 7-0 Red-South) trounced the Cavaliers thanks to 31 points, six rebounds, and three blocks from Jabari Parker. Steve Taylor did his part with a 10-point, 10-rebound double-double. He also had six assists and four blocks.
BLUE-CENTRAL
Kelly 58, Bronzeville 51: Chris Jacobs had a well-rounded performance for Kelly (5-11, 1-6), scoring 15 points and grabbing 14 rebounds. Will Payne finished with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Jones 78, Chicago Richards 67: John Chico powered the Jones (16-2, 6-0) offense with 24 points and seven assists. Courtney Copeland also had a big game with 23 points and six rebounds. Deandre Taylor finished with a solid 18 points and nine rebounds.
Tilden 67, TEAM Englewood 63: Tilden (12-9, 7-1) turned to Kendall Gatewood, who finished with 20 points, eight assists, and four steals in the winning effort.
BLUE-NORTH
Amundsen 53, Chicago Academy 34: Nick Flowers lifted Amundsen (13-5, 6-1) past Chicago Academy with 21 points. Sam Mensah added 12 points and dominated the boards, pulling down 16 rebounds.
GREEN-NORTH
Urban-Prep West 79, Talent 53: Darrl Curry was instrumental in the Urban-Prep (14-6, 8-0) win, scoring 17 points and grabbing six rebounds. John Ashford was also key, finishing with 14 points, seven rebounds and four steals.
GREEN-SOUTH
Solorio 46, Hancock 43: Thomas Jones scored 21 points, grabbed six rebounds, and finished with five steals in the win for Solorio (7-6, 5-5). Emontray Bates and Jesus Aguilera each chipped in ten points.
NONCONFERENCE
Montini 60, Northridge 56, OT: The Broncos (9-6) edged out Northridge in overtime as Tyshawn Johnson finished with 18 points and five rebounds. Rich Bodee added 12 points and eight boards.
RED-CENTRAL
DuSable 52, King 43: Chris Galbreath led DuSable (7-7, 3-4) to the win with a 15-point performance. Evance Gayles added 11 points.
Hyde Park 81, Hope 39: Hyde Park (10-5, 5-1) pounded Hope behind Marcus Smith's 15 points and Kyle Davis's 14 points, five assists, and six steals.
Kenwood 52, Harper 46: Remy Price's 14 points was enough for Kenwood (11-5, 6-1) to move past Harper.
RED-NORTH
Prosser 57, Mather 38: Juan DeJesus (15 points, six rebounds) and Kiwon Brewer (14 points, 12 rebounds) came up big for Prosser.
Schurz 66, Senn 43: David Marron (24 points) dazzled for Schurz (9-11, 4-3) and Hugo Zuniga did his part as well, finishing with 13 points and 10 boards.
Taft 61, Steinmetz 39: The Eagles (14-6, 6-1) were led by Tim Reamer and Kevin Siudut, each finishing with 14 points. John Joyce added 13 points.
SOUTH SUBURBAN RED
Oak Lawn 63, Shepard 50: The Spartans (8-9, 4-4) were sparked by Lyndell Johnson's 20 points and Jacob Campbell's 18 points. Martin Einikis also had a nice game with 17 points.
