Baseball: Summer state finals postponed

Tuesday morning’s thunderstorms forced the postponement of the second day of play in the Illinois High School Baseball Coaches Association’s Phil Lawler Summer Classic state tournament.

Tuesday’s games have been rescheduled for the same times and sites on Wednesday. At North Central College in Naperville, Lyons will play Maine South at 10 a.m. and the loser will face Joliet Catholic at 12:30 p.m. At Benedictine University in Lisle, Montini will face St. Laurence at 10 a.m. with the loser meeting Jacobs at 12:30.

The winners of Wednesday’s four games will advance to the semifinals at 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on Thursday at Benedictine. The title game is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday, also at Benedictine.
