Mundelein 8, McHenry 3: Chris Maranto starred on both sides for the No. 6 Mustangs. He was the pitcher of record and also collected a double among his two hits. Mitchell Schulewitz also ripped a double to pace the offensive attack.
Oak Park 5-4, Downers North 0-6: In the opener, Zach Weigel struck out 11 and and walked four in a complete-game hitter for the No. 9 Huskies.
Maine South 7, Deerfield 3: Mike Virgilio struck out two and scattered five hits in running his record to 5-0 for the No. 11 Hawks (21-3, 11-0 Central Suburban South). Rocky Saavedra had two hits, scored twice and drove in a run. He also struck out the side in a seventh-inning relief appearance to record the save.
De La Salle 4, Fenwick 3, 9 inn.: Ricardo Ramirez was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI and Pat Haynes blasted the game-winning homer for De La Salle (19-8). Anthony Shimkus pitched four innings to pick up the win.
Downers South 2-1, Willowbrook 1-0: In the opener, winning pitcher Nick Banek scattered two hits in four innings. Nick Alfini earned the save. In the nightcap, Zach Taylor drove in the game-winning run. Zach Burdi struck out five in a complete-game victory.
Elgin 7, Woodstock North 2: Derek Strohmaier was 3-for-4 with two triples and two RBI. Eric Sedlack (2-2) gave up two earned runs and three hits while striking out seven in five innings pitched for Elgin (9-17).
Glenbrook South 7, Glenbrook North 3: Zach Jones smacked two doubles and drove in a run to support winning pitcher Kyle Pauly (5-2), who struck out four batters in five innings of work, for the No. 18 Titans.
Gordon Tech 4, St. Joseph 2, 11 inn.: Kyle Boedeker gave up a run and one hit in three innings pitched to pick up the win for Gordon Tech.
Kenwood 15, Curie 0: Paulie Flores went four innings and struck out five for the win. DJ Langston was 2-for-2 with an RBI and two runs scored while Jose Hinojosa finished with a double and two RBI as Kenwood (12-11, 7-4 Jackie Robinson South) obliterated Curie.
Lincoln-Way East 10, Stagg 8: Ryan Westendorf (4-for-4) blasted the game-winning home run. Mike Martin picked up the victory.
Lockport 17, Highland 5: Austin Mastela was 2-for-3 with a triple, double and three RBI and Dan Sullivan was 2-for-3 with two RBI for Lockport (17-10).
Montini 4, Morton 0: Curtis Ligocki struck out eight and allowed just two hits in the complete-game performance. Eddie Bava and Ben Dobosenski each contributed two hits to spark the offense.
Morgan Park 11, Jones 1: James Davison was 1-for-3 with an RBI, Reginald Rogers was 2-for-2 with an RBI and DeJohn Suber picked up the win for Morgan Park (22-7, 7-3 Jackie Robinson South).
Niles West 12, Highland Park 4: Seth Rosenberg struck out 10 and allowed just two hits to improve his record to 5-1. Kyle Collette scored three times, knocked in a run and had three hits. Quinn Winkler was 3-for-3, scoring and driving in a run.
Riverside-Brookfield 5-9, Wheaton Academy 2-3: Will Kincanon went 6 2/3 IP, gave up an earned run an struck out 11 in the Game 1 win. In the second contest, pitcher Kevin Garvey went five innings, giving up an earned run and striking out eight in the win for Riverside-Brookfield.
St. Rita 3, Brother Rice 1: Billy Henry threw a complete-game three hitters and struck out two for the Mustangs (18-9, 9-4 Catholic Blue). Anthony Ray had two hits, scored twice and stole two bases for the offense.
Sandburg 5, Clemente 1: Winning pitcher Bryan Pall went five innings, giving up a run and six hits while striking out five. Zach Reks was 3-for-3 with a triple, double and three RBI in the Sandburg (18-4) win.
Simeon 18, Brooks 0: Terrance Robertson left the Brooks batters scratching their heads as he struck out nine on the way to a complete-game no-hitter. Corey Ray was 3-for-3 with a double, triple and six RBI while Darius Day was 2-for-3 with four RBI as Simeon (18-7, 9-2 Jackie Robinson South) mauled the Eagles.
Somonauk 12, Seneca 5: Colin Stahl went 3-for-5 with three RBI, three runs scored and two stolen bases for Somonauk.
Thornton 3-7, Rich East 2-3: Jamal Towns had two RBI and Mike Hoover knocked in the game-winning run in the first game of the doubleheader. In Game 2, Ronnie Cross threw a complete game, striking out eight as D’Anthony Cross went 2-for-3 with two runs scored for Thronton (13-14).
Vocational 12, South Shore 11: Winning pitcher Byron Day (1-1) aided his own cause with a three-run double. Darius Williams added a home run for the Cavaliers.
Westinghouse 10, Raby 3: Pablo Rivera tossed a complete game, giving up two hits and striking out 10 for Westinghouse.
