Girls Track: Top 10 teams, top 50 individuals

Top Teams
• 1. Lincoln-Way East: Junior Aaliyah Brown won the 100 and 200 dashes and anchored the winning 400 relay team as the Griffins finished second in Class 3A last year. If her hamstring injury has healed, expect another dominant year.
• 2. Evanston: The Wildkits aren’t one of the deepest teams around, but they have some proven veterans such as sprinter Margaret Bamgbose and middle-distance ace Jahnell Horton, who could score big points.
• 3. Waubonsie Valley: Morolake Akinosun ran the fastest 55 dash in the nation a week ago and is primed for a strong senior season.
• 4. Plainfield North: The Tigers are paced by yet another exceptional sprinter, senior Cessily Jones.
• 5. Hoffman Estates: Seniors Haley Goers (distances) and Emily D’Amico (sprints) return from a team that finished third in Class 3A last year.
• 6. Wheaton Warrenville South: The Tigers return all the scorers from a team that tied for 15th in Class 3A last year and are one of the more balanced teams around.
• 7. Glenbard West: Some talented sprinters have graduated, but the Hilltoppers should remain strong, thanks to a crop of good middle-distance runners.
• 8. Homewood-Flossmoor: Double state champ Abie Ehimwenman (long, triple jumps) has graduated, but the Vikings have a deep and talented track crew.
• 9. York: Michelle Frigo leads a deep distance group.
• 10. Young: Claire Kieger and Shianne Baggett are dependable veterans for the three-time defending Public League champs.
