DAC powers Valpo, Portage clash today

Bragging rights in the Duneland will be at stake today when Valparaiso travels to Portage for a 4:30 p.m., dual meet.

The Vikings are 6-0 in the DAC, while Portage is 5-1. Also in the hunt and hoping for a title share is Lake Central (4-1), which is at Chesterton today for a double dual that also includes LaPorte. LC lost 70-62 to Valparaiso last week and handed Portage its only DAC loss, 75-57 on April 10.

Valparaiso coach Brett Polizotto is expecting more of the same today. “We’ve been involved in some great DAC meets this year,” he said. “We have been trying to approach each meet by improving from the previous performance. ... (Portage has) had some fantastic performances this year and it will be a great meet.”

The Vikings will be back home on Friday for the Valparaiso Relays, their final tuneup for the DAC meet back at Portage on May 9.
