Girls Water Polo: Top teams, individuals

Top teams

1. Fenwick: The defending state champions graduated some key players, but played several freshmen and other youngsters down the stretch last season that return with valuable experience.

2. St. Ignatius: Last year’s third-place team at state will look to challenge Fenwick both in the Metro Catholic Aquatics Conference and also in May at state.

3. Naperville Central: The best team in the western suburbs looks to make another run to state and shake off last season’s tough, one-goal loss to Stevenson in the quarterfinals.

4. Mother McAuley: Yet another MCAC entry, the Mighty Macs finished fourth in state last year and figure to be in the mix yet again this season.

5. Stevenson: The Patriots reached the state title game a year ago and look to be the best public school squad in the northern suburbs again this year.
