Direll Clark ran for three first-half touchdowns and Lakes’ offense exploded for the first time this season, as the host Eagle downed Grant 38-14 on Friday in the North Suburban Conference Prairie Division opener for both teams.

Lakes is now 3-0 on the season while Grant is 1-2.

Clark scored on runs of 17, 2 and 2 yards, helping Lakes grab a commanding 31-14 halftime lead.

Quarterback Chris Hoffman, who missed the season opener due to injury, threw a pair of touchdown passes — 29 yards to Justin Bergeron and 18 yards to Andrew Spencer.

Grant trailed 14-0 early, but got back in the game when Jonathan Wells scored on a three-yard run. His second score, late in the first half, was on a four-yard run.

But in the second half, Lakes’ defense kept Grant off the board while the Eagles’ offense was tacking on another score.

Clark rushed 11 times for 110 yards in his huge first half.

Tanner Blain also was solid for Lakes, as he was 4-for-4 kicking extra points and also booted a 31-yard field goal in the second quarter.
