Football: Jacobs lineman Adam Kulon picks Toledo

Jacobs senior Adam Kulon solidified his college plans Wednesday when he verbally committed to play Division I football at Toledo.

The 6-5, 240-pound defensive end earned All-Fox Valley Conference Valley Division honors as a junior and had plenty options when it came to where he’d play in college.

“Like a lot of kids, Adam had been offered by all the MAC schools,” Jacobs coach Bill Mitz said. “In his heart I think he wanted to get this done before the season started. Now it’s off his mind, he’s excited about it and he can get to work when practices begin next week.”

Kulon plays defensive end and offensive tackle at Jacobs, but he will likely focus on defense at the next level.

Toledo went 9-4 and won the Military Bowl last season. Matt Campbell is going into his first season as the program’s head coach. He replaces Tim Beckman, who was hired as the Illinois coach last December.
