If the numbers aren’t lying — and we happen to think they’re not — then it’s hard to argue with the statement that the North Suburban Conference Lake Division is the best soccer league in the entire state.
This weekend at Lincoln-Way North High two of the NSC Lake’s seven members — Warren and Stevenson — will be in action.
And it’s not hard to imagine a state-championship game on Saturday featuring division rivals vying for the huge trophy.
If you’re scoring at home, this is the fourth straight year that the NSC Lake has had a team qualify for the Final Four.
Lake Zurich made it in 2009, Libertyville in 2010, Warren in 2011, and now both the Blue Devils and Patriots.
This year Warren played twice, with each winning once.
Warren will face Sandburg from the south suburbs at 5 p.m., and Stevenson will take on Naperville Central at 7 p.m.
In the last three years, four NSC Lake teams have qualified for the Final Four playoffs, and yet none of the four qualifiers won the North Suburban Conference championship.
Naperville Central, second in state last year, is the favorite going in, but as always, anything can happen.
