Jalen James, a rising senior point guard who played at Hope Academy and La Lumiere (Ind.) last season, has decommitted from Illinois and reopened his recruitment.
Mike Mullins, James’ club basketball coach, tweeted out the news on Wednesday. According to Mullins, Marquette and SMU have already contacted James.
Illinois coach John Groce has had a rough couple of days. Assistant coach Isaac Chew left the program for an assistant coach job at Marquette on Tuesday. Chew had only been in Champaign for seven weeks.
