Boys Basketball: Findlay Prep routs Simeon
Updated: January 16, 2012 6:40PM
Simeon’s dreams of a national championship likely died on Monday in Springfield, Mass., as the Wolverines lost to Findlay Prep (Nev.) 75-50.
Wolverines junior Jabari Parker scored 24 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, but only managed six points in the second half.
No. 1 Simeon trailed by nine after one quarter and nine at the half. Guards Reggie Norris and Lawrence Briggs drained threes late in the third quarter to help the Wolverines cut the lead to six.
But that was as close as it would get. The Pilots used a 19-4 fourth-quarter run to turn it into a blowout. The game was televised on ESPNU.
Steve Taylor finished with eight points and eight rebounds. He was 0-for-6 from three-point range, Simeon was 4-for-23 from beyond the arc in the game.
Junior Kendrick Nunn was held to three points and three rebounds. Norris scored six off the bench for the Wolverines (15-1).
Oregon recruit Dominic Artis scored 21 for Findlay Prep.
